After successfully sourcing a product and creating an account with Amazon, its time to begin listing. Listing quality can be the difference between a successful product and a failure, so it is critical to spend time on this step.
If listing a product already on Amazon, a seller can save time and use the stock images and descriptions available on the site. They will just need to specify the number of products, the condition and shipping options available to customers.
Sellers using Private Labelling however, will need to create a new listing for each product they sell. This process can be broken down into the following parts:
- Use 50 characters maximum as a general rule.
- Some product categories allow longer titles, so be sure to follow category guidelines.
- Include as much information as possible but keep it concise.
- Customers will focus on the title so make it appealing and be sure to include the brand, a description, primary benefits and a keyword or two.

- Use 1000 characters as a limit.
- These bullet points can be used to grab the buyer’s interest and encourage them to continue onto the more detailed product description.
- Use around five concise bullet points and ensure you place the most important points at the top.
- Include information around materials, warranties, value, differentiating factors, etc
- Use 2000 characters as a limit.
- Product descriptions should be clearly written and help customers fully understand the product and its value to them.
- This part should be used to more thoroughly discuss your product and its associated benefits.
- Write the description in a conversational way. This helps customers relate to the products better.
- Include keywords where possible and use emotive language when describing benefits.
- Use 250 characters as a limit.

Uploading New Listings
- Professional sellers can add multiple product listings at the same time, using inventory file templates.
- These templates are (.txt) files that include all of the information needed to list products on Amazon.
- Professional sellers can download the relevant Inventory File Excel Template, within Seller Central.
- After filling out the Template, they can upload it complete with all the details for their products.
- It is a good idea to do a test upload with only 2 or 3 products first to ensure the spreadsheet is being filled in correctly and error free.
- Usually listings are available immediately after a successful upload, however on occasion it can take up to 24 hours to appear.
